Subject of Activities

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Comparative Research in the Social Sciences is an independent, international non-profit research institute that is specialised in strategic policy analysis. The ICCR uses applied, multi-disciplinary and comparative research, with Europe defining its geographical scope. Based in Vienna, Austria, at the crossroads between West and East, its activities cover all of Europe.

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Comparative Research in the Social Sciences - International (ICCR) was founded in 1986 with the aim of designing and promoting interdisciplinary and transnational research and relies on a clear comparative methodology, an interdisciplinary academic network, a flexible but disciplined organizational structure, and a multidisciplinary, skilled, international principal research staff.

Research programme

The ICCR’s research programme addresses areas it considers relevant to European development. These four areas are:

SPA: Social Policy Analysis -- Social Structures and Integration

STARS: Society, Technology and Research

EASY: Environment and Sustainability

TEA: Transport Policy Evaluation and Analysis

To generate results and analyse European developments at a meta-level, the ICCR is organising a think tank that synthesises work in the four research areas listed above:

EURO: European Developments – Policies and Politics
