Subject of Activities

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Comparative Research in the Social Sciences is an independent, international non-profit research institute that is specialised in strategic policy analysis. For its research work the ICCR is using applied, multi-disciplinary and comparative research with Europe defining the geographical scope. Based in Vienna, Austria, at the cross-roads between West and East, its scope of activities covers the entire Europe.

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Comparative Research in the Social Sciences - International (ICCR) was founded in 1986 with the aim of designing and promoting interdisciplinary and transnational research and which relies on a clear comparative methodology, an interdisciplinary academic network a flexible, albeit disciplined, organizational structure, and a multidisciplinary skilled, international principal staff of researchers.

Research programme

With its research programme the ICCR addresses areas which the ICCR is convinced are relevant for European development. These four areas are:

SPA: Social Policy Analysis - Social Structures and Integration

STARS: Society, Technology and Research

EASY: Environment and Sustainability

TEA: Transport Policy Evaluation and Analysis

For the purpose of generating results and carrying out analysis on a meta-level on European developments, the ICCR as a sort of synthesis of work in the four research areas listed before, a think tank is being organised:
