Project REGIONET

REGIONET was a Thematic Network on Strategies for Regional Sustainable Development coordinated by ICCR, Austria, for the European Commission, DG Research. It ran from January 2002 to December 2003.

The network supported the implementation of sustainable development in regions across Europe. Its four objectives were the cross-fertilisation of sustainability research and regional partnerships; the integration of sustainability issues into regional development plans for EU structural funds; an understanding of regional sustainable development and multi-level governance; and an integrated framework for evaluating regional sustainable development at European, national and regional levels.

Four workshops presented papers circulated in advance. Three workshops had around 40 participants; the final workshop was larger, with around 100 participants. Papers were then published and disseminated.
