REGIONET is a thematic network on strategies for regional sustainable development.
Its overall objective is an integrated approach to support the implementation of sustainable development in regions across Europe. Four specific objectives guide the work:
- cross-fertilisation of sustainability research and the establishment of regional partnerships
- improved integration of sustainability issues in regional development plans put forward to the EU structural funds
- an understanding of the relationship between regional sustainable development and regional and multi-level governance
- an integrated framework for evaluating regional sustainable development at European, national and regional levels
Papers prepared and circulated in advance are discussed at four workshops. Three are medium-sized (40 participants); the fourth is larger (100 participants).
